Tips and Tricks
The type of dates and oats used will determine the texture and taste of this healthy oatmeal smoothie. A smooth texture is achieved by blending soft Medjool dates and rolled oats with other ingredients.
Soften dates by soaking them in warm water for 15-20 minutes if they're not soft already.
To get a richer and creamier texture, soak oats in ⅓ cup milk for 10-15 minutes.
Achieve the desired consistency by adjusting the milk.
Too thick: add more milk to thin the smoothie down.
Too thin: add a few cubes of apple or oats to thicken the smoothie. Gradually mix in a handful of diced apples or ¼ cup rolled oats at a time.

FAQ

Several hours of soaking steel cut oats will make blending with a normal blender easier. If not, the first step is to blend it into a fine powder using a high-powered blender before mixing it with the other ingredients.
Yes, frozen fruit is a perfect option if you want a super chilled smoothie but don’t want to use ice cubes. If you have a lot of apples, freezing them is the best way to preserve them.
The consistency of the smoothie is affected by ice cubes, so don't use them. For a super chilled and thick smoothie, opt for a frozen apple.
