These little sweet treats are great for kids to try with minimal assistance from adults. This snack is a fantastic way to incorporate nutritious seeds into kids diet. It tastes great when paired with hot chocolate for extra indulgence, saffron milk or turmeric milk.

You only need a few minutes to prepare this chocolate superseed bites recipe. The hardest part was waiting for them to set. My kids were so eager, they couldn’t resist indulging a few before they were ready.

Ingredients

  • Chocolate: We used a dark chocolate bar, but you can swap it with
  • Nuts and Seeds: Pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, flaxmeal, sesame seeds and almonds
  • Dry Fruits: raisins, cranberries
  • Pantry Ingredients: toasted coconut flakes and a dark chocolate bar.
  • Dairy and Sweetener: Butter and maple syrup.

Step By Step Instructions

Step 1: Break the chocolate bar into pieces and place it in a heat proof bowl along with butter..

Step 2: Place the bowl in the microwave and heat for 2 minutes or until chocolate melts completely, stirring at regular intervals.

Step 3: Now, add sunflower seeds, raisins, pumpkin seeds, sesame seeds, flaxmeal, toasted coconut flakes, almonds and maple syrup.

Step 4: Stir well with a spoon until everything is well combined.

Step 5: Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Step 6: Using a tablespoon, scoop out a portion of the chocolate superseed mixture and place it on a lined sheet.

Step 7: Gently press it with the back of spoon to flatten.

Step 8: Sprinkle each bite with a mix of chopped almonds, pumpkin and sunflower seeds.

Step 9: Place the tray in the fridge for 30 minutes or until the bites harden.

Serve delicious chocolate superseed bites as a snack along with carrot orange juice, fresh green grape juice or pineapple ginger juice.

Substitutions and Variations

Nut butter: Adding peanut butter is a great way to include protein and enhance the taste. Stir it into melted chocolate along with seeds and nuts.

Vegan: Ensure to use plant-based chocolate and substitute butter with coconut oil.

Nuts: You can substitute walnuts or cashews for almonds.

Chocolate: Dark chocolate can be substituted with white or milk chocolate.

Storage

Fridge: Once the chocolate superseed bites have set, transfer them to a ziplock bag or an airtight container and store in the fridge for up to 10 days.

Freezer: You can store them in the freezer for up to 2-3 months to extend their shelf life.
