How to remove popsicles from moulds?
Either run warm water over the outside of the moulds for a few seconds or dip each popsicle mould in a bowl of warm water to help loosen the popsicles. Avoid pulling too hard to avoid breaking the sticks.
Substitutions and Variations
Dairy Free: Use coconut yogurt instead of dairy yogurt.
Sweetener: You can use agave syrup or honey instead of maple syrup.
Storage
Store the popsicles in a single layer in a freezer-safe bag or container. You can place parchment paper between layers to prevent them from sticking together.
Tips and Tricks
Texture: We simply used a potato masher to mash the strawberries as we prefer some chunks in popsicles. For a smooth texture, process the strawberries in a blender until they are smooth.
Freezing: Place the popsicles in the freezer for a minimum of 4–6 hours or overnight to make sure they are completely frozen.
Sweetness: If you use seasonal, fresh, juicy strawberries, there's no need to add any sweetener. However, if the strawberries are less sweet and more tart, stir in some maple syrup into mashed strawberries.
FAQ
If you don't have popsicle mould, you can use paper cups or silicon muffin cups. Pour the mixture into these cups, cover the top with aluminium foil and insert a toothpick or skewer through the center of the foil. Freeze them the same way as popsicle mould.
