These decadent popsicles are fun to make with young kids and they require almost no prep time and no cooking.
It’s a straightforward process - blend all the ingredients, fill the popsicle moulds and freeze.
The best part of homemade popsicles is that you can customise the recipe with the ingredients of your kid’s choice and often for less than you would spend buying them at a store.
While cooking with kids sounds exciting, kids’ safety should be the priority. Ensure to supervise the kids all the time they are in the kitchen and do not allow toddlers and young kids to handle the blender or any kitchen appliances on their own. Refer safety disclaimer for more details.
Ingredients

- Cocoa Powder: I have used unsweetened cocoa powder.
- Milk: I used full-fat coconut milk, but you could use any plant-based milk
- Banana: Using ripe banana results in creamy popsicles and also cuts down on the need for extra sweetener.
- Sweetener: I used maple syrup, but feel free to use any healthy sweetener of your choice.

Substitutions and Variations
Sweetener: You can use agave syrup or honey instead of maple syrup.
Spices: Try adding cinnamon or vanilla extract for added flavour.
Storage
These banana chocolate popsicles could be stored in the freezer for up to 3 months if kept properly. To save space in the freezer, remove the base once the popsicles are frozen and then store them in a zip-lock bag.
Tips and Tricks
Warm Water: Either run warm water over the outside of the moulds for a few seconds or dip each popsicle mould in a bowl of warm water to help loosen the popsicles. Avoid pulling too hard to avoid breaking the sticks.
Freezing: To ensure that the popsicles are completely frozen, place them in the freezer for a minimum of 6 hours or overnight.
Coconut Milk: It is essential to use full-fat coconut milk in this recipe. The fat helps yield a creamy texture and keeps the popsicles from getting icy or crystallised.
