Why We Love This No Cook Wraps?
A fun treat for kids to prepare with minimal supervision from an adult.
Made with 6 basic ingredients.
Can be customised to suit kids taste.
Ideal way to make kids eat fruits and nuts.
Ingredients
- Flatbread: We have used whole wheat seeded tortillas. But plain wheat tortilla works as well.
- Nuts, Fresh and Dried Fruits: Apple, almonds and raisins
- Sweetener: Maple syrup has been used here but any other natural sweetener of your choice could be used.
- Nut Butter: We choose peanut butter but other nut butter works as well.

How to make apple tortilla wraps?
Warm tortillas for about 10 seconds on a dry skillet or microwave just until they are warm. (only an adult has to do it. Watch out young kids when they are near the hot burner).
Place each tortilla on a wooden board or a plate and spread a thin layer of peanut butter over it. (Time for kids to take over!)
Place thinly sliced apples in the center of the tortilla. (this is the fun part for kids, don't forget to watch my toddler having fun in the video!)
Drizzle maple syrup over the apples for sweetness. Sprinkle raisins and chopped almonds over the apples.
Carefully fold the tortilla's two sides inside to enclose the apple filling.
Then, starting from the bottom, roll it up tightly to create a wrap. (little hands need help rolling up!)
Cut each wrap in half diagonally (only adults should do it)
Serve delicious and nutritious homemade apple wraps with a side of yogurt fruit dip, chocolate fruit dip or dates caramel sauce for dipping.

Substitutions and Variations
Nut Butter: Use almond butter or sunflower seed butter instead of peanut butter.
Yogurt: Consider using Greek yogurt for flavour variation.
Sweetener: Instead of maple syrup, try using agave nectar or a drizzle of refined sugar-free fruit preserves.
Granola: Sprinkle almond vanilla granola on top for a crunchy texture.
Spices: Add a pinch of ground cinnamon or cardamom for extra flavour.
Dried Fruits: Incorporate more dried fruits like dried cranberries, or apricots for added sweetness and texture.
Flatbread: For a change, try chapati, paratha or any other wholemeal flatbread instead of tortilla.
Storage
Cover apple tortilla wraps with clingfilm or aluminium foil tightly, place it in an airtight container and store it in the fridge for a day or two. Take it out of the fridge, uncover and then cut the wraps when ready to serve.
Tips and Tricks
Don’t Overfill: Make sure kids don’t overfill the tortilla as it would be challenging to roll the tortilla up without spilling.
Control Moisture: To avoid a soggy wrap, wash and pat dry apple before slicing and arranging them in a tortilla.
Choose Fresh Apple: For the most delicious taste, go for the crisp, juicy and firm apple.
Helping Hand: Young kids may require help from an adult to roll the tortilla tightly to keep it from unrolling.
Heat Tortilla: Heat them either in a pan on the stovetop over medium heat or in the microwave just until they are warm and pliable. Overheating could cause them to crisp up and become challenging to roll up.
FAQ
I wouldn't suggest freezing leftover wraps as the texture and taste of the filling might be altered. Apple might turn spongier when thawed.
