Strawberry Banana Milkshake is a delicious drink that is fun to make with kids. It is so easy for kids to make themselves with little adult supervision. Bananas lend their sweetness to the milkshake. The cream provides a silky smooth texture and creamy consistency. It truly is as easy as adding all the ingredients in a blender and blending until smooth and creamy.

Wonderful, thick and yummy milkshakes are the best ways to get kids back to the dining table and make sure they get their essential nutrients. The flavour of a strawberry banana milkshake makes it a sweet treat that even fussy kids find hard to resist!! Milkshakes, healthy sweet treats such as strawberry yogurt bark, Pineapple banana smoothie, and tropical smoothie are a great way to boost a kid's fruit intake.

This healthy strawberry banana milkshake is definitely healthier than store-bought milkshakes as it has real strawberries and is free of unnecessary preservatives. This delicious milkshake is perfect for breakfast, dessert or as an after-school snack.

Involving kids in kitchen tasks is a good way to teach them essential life skills. Make cooking with kids an interesting and fun activity.

Start with my simple no-fuss recipes - chocolate peanut energy balls, chocolate date balls, oreo milkshake, strawberry fool and oatmeal energy balls.

This milkshake is great to keep kids hydrated on hot summer days specifically for those that struggle to drink water and their liquid intake is poor. Drinks such as my rose lassi, mango lemonade, lemonade with basil seeds or water flavoured with orange syrup are enticing and interesting for kids to drink rather than just the plain water.

    Ingredients

    • Strawberries
    • Banana
    • Milk
    • Cream

    Instructions

adding strawberry banana milk in a blender jar and blending to make milkshake

Place all the ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth and creamy.

Do a taste test and add more fruit or liquid to suit the kid's taste.

Pour this delicious summer milkshake into a glass and serve it right away to kids.

    Variations

Add a few dates or maple syrup if the strawberries are too sour to make sure the end result is sweet enough to pass your kid's taste test. Try not to add loads of sugar or syrups so as to keep this recipe simple and healthy.

You could add vanilla extract for extra flavour.

    Substitutions

For the vegan version, use plant-based milk such as soy, almond, oats or coconut milk instead of dairy milk and use cashew or coconut cream instead of regular dairy cream.

Full-fat milk and cream would yield a creamy milkshake. However, use low-fat milk and cream for a low-calorie version.

    Tips and Tricks

Use at least half frozen strawberries and frozen bananas to get a chilled and extra-thick texture.

Do not use frozen fruits if you do not prefer extra-thick milkshakes.

Adjust the milk and cream based on your preferred consistency.

I didn’t add extra sugar as bananas and strawberries have plenty of sweetness. Consider adding dates, honey or maple syrup if strawberries are sour.

Do not add ice cubes as frozen fruits keep the milkshake cold but it doesn't thin it down. Adding ice to milkshakes makes them watery pretty quickly.

    Serving Suggestions

Serve this delicious strawberry and banana milkshake as an afterschool snack along with my jeera biscuits or coconut biscuits.

It is a healthy, filling and nutritious breakfast to kick start the day. Either serve it alone or along with protein-rich vegetable frittata or nutella crepes.

Add a scoop of vanilla ice cream or my raspberry ice cream on top, decorate with some nuts or sprinkles and turn it into an indulgent dessert. For a refined sugar-free and low-calorie treat use strawberry frozen yogurt instead of ice cream.
