Masala Lassi - a refreshing and rejuvenating flavoured buttermilk. This mildly spiced yogurt drink perfect to cool off on hot summer days.

Jump to:
Masala Lassi is an essential part of everyday meals in most North Indian households regardless of the weather. Lassi is an ideal option to finish off old yogurt.
Among various lassi varieties, Rose Lassi, Mango Lassi and masala lassi are most preferred in many households in India as it is prepared with few ingredients that are readily available in a kitchen pantry at any time.
Lassi is considered as soothing beverage during the summer. It is a thirst quencher in summer and has the ability to rehydrate your body when it's hot outside.
Ingredients

Herbs and Spices: Fresh coriander leaves, mint leaves, roasted cumin powder and salt.
Liquid: I have used store bought plain yogurt. You can use homemade yogurt but make sure it's fresh and not too sour. Water to get the right consistency of the lassi.
Vegetables: Fresh ginger to spice up the lassi.
Step by Step Instructions

Add yogurt, mint leaves, coriander, roast cumin powder, salt and ginger into the blender jar. Close the jar with the lid and blend until smooth.

Enjoy chilled and mildly spiced masala lassi.
Variations and Substitutions
Masala Lassi is mildly spiced with the addition of ginger. You could add green chili while blending or a big pinch of pepper powder or chili powder for intense spice.
Fresh ginger can be substituted with ginger powder.
Try adding black salt to enhance the flavour.
Tips and Tricks
Adjust cumin and ginger to suit your taste.
Adjust water as per your required consistency.
You may add more mint and coriander leaves based on how strong flavour you prefer your lassi to be.
Chill lassi in the fridge until ready to serve.
