Chocolate dipped fruit cones – a fun and visually appealing twist on classic fruit desserts. Fresh fruits are served inside chocolate coated ice cream cones. Perfect as a refreshing snack or as a dessert at parties.

Kids surely enjoy dipping cones in melted chocolate, topping and filling their cones with fruits of their own choice. The best thing about this recipe is that picky eaters enjoy their fruits in a fun and creative way without any complaints.
Take extra care when kids are keen to chop their fruits. Assist and supervise them all the time in the kitchen. Do not allow kids to use a sharp knife to cut fruits. I would highly suggest using plastic knives specially designed for kids that reduce the chances of bad cuts. Refer to my Safety Disclaimer for more details.
Ingredients

- Fruits: Apple, strawberries, pear and peaches.
- Toppings: Toasted coconut flakes, sprinkles, pumpkin seeds and sunflower seeds.
- For Melted Chocolate: We used coconut oil and dark chocolate bar. You can use chocolate chips instead of a bar.
- Sweetener: Maple syrup has been used here, but feel free to substitute it with any other sweetener of your choice.
See the recipe card for quantities.

Substitutions and Variations
Fruits: Use different seasonal fruits such as mango, blueberries, cherries or persimmons.
Spices: Try adding spices like cinnamon, nutmeg or cardamom powder to enhance the taste and make it more appealing for kids. Stir in a pinch of spice to the fruits.
Chocolate: You could substitute dark chocolate with milk or white chocolate.
Filling: Instead of filling the bottom of the cone with a spoonful of melted chocolate, try date caramel sauce, blueberry coulis, a dollop of rhubarb strawberry jam or coconut custard.
Topping Options
- You can substitute sprinkles with crunchy granola to make fruit cone healthier. Try banana granola, coconut granola, apple granola, chocolate peanut butter granola or almond vanilla granola.
- Nuts & Seeds: Try almonds, toasted peanuts or walnuts instead of toasted coconut flakes for a change of flavour.
- Cookies: Crushed oatmeal pumpkin cookies, jeera biscuits or coconut biscuits.
Tips and Tricks
Chocolate: Melt chocolate slowly and gently in the microwave, stirring regularly at 15 – 20 second intervals.
Butter: Don’t skip butter while melting chocolate, as it helps create a smooth, glossy finish.
Cut Fruits: Cut fruits into bite-sized pieces so they fit comfortably inside the cone.
Firm Fruits: Try fruits that are ripe but still firm. Avoid mushy or overly soft ones, as they can make the cone soggy.
Serve Upright: Use a cone stand, jar or cupcake tray to keep cones standing and help while filling.
Storage
If you are planning this chocolate dipped fruit cone in advance for a party or to save time on the day of serving, dip cones in chocolate, add your desired toppings and store them in the fridge for up to 3 days. When you are ready to serve, just cut fresh fruits, toss them with maple syrup and assemble the cones.
To save even more time on the day of serving, cut and toss fruits with maple syrup the previous night. Store the fruit mixture in an airtight container in the fridge until ready to serve. Maple syrup coating acts as a barrier, limiting the exposure to oxygen, reducing the browning.
