Getting kids involved in the process not only boosts their excitement to try various fruits and nuts but also offers a fabulous opportunity for bonding and creating lasting memories!

Involving kids in kitchen tasks not only increases their enthusiasm for trying healthy food but also provides a fantastic chance to bond and create lasting memories together.

Cooking with kids may seem fun, but you must prioritise their safety first. Make sure that only adults handle the knife and keep little ones away from sharp knives. Check out the recipe and safety disclaimer for more details.

Allow kids to take the lead and pick their own toppings. Young kids would love dipping bananas in chocolate or yogurt and adding their own toppings.

Substitutions and Variations

Topping Options

Coating Options

  • Nut Butter: Try peanut or another nut butter instead of yogurt or chocolate.
  • Chocolate: You can substitute dark chocolate with milk or white chocolate.

Storage

Once banana pops are fully frozen, transfer them into a ziplock bag or an airtight container. Store it in the freezer for up to 10 days.

Tips and Tricks

Popsicle Stick: Insert a popsicle stick into each banana half, leaving enough length for the kid to hold comfortably.

Banana: Use ripe but still firm bananas. Overripe bananas can be too soft and may cause the popsicle stick to slip out, making it harder and messier for the kid.

Freeze: Arrange bananas on a lined tray, ensuring they have sufficient space and don’t touch each other during freezing.

Minimise Mess: Hold dipped bananas over a plate or a tray while adding the toppings to catch any drips. This helps minimise the mess and makes cleanup quicker.
