Substitutions and Variations

Sweetener: You can use honey or agave syrup instead of maple syrup.

Nuts: You can substitute almonds and walnuts with pistachios or cashews.

Spices: Try cardamom or nutmeg instead of cinnamon for flavour variation.

Storage

Allow roasted figs to cool completely before storing to prevent condensation. Place figs in an airtight container and store in the fridge for up to 3 days.

Avoid stacking roasted figs during storage, as their texture might cause them to stick together and become mushy when separated.

Tips and Tricks

Figs: Choose ripe, plump and slightly soft to touch, but firm figs as they caramelise fabulously.

Sweetness: Figs are naturally sweet, so adjust the maple syrup depending on their sweetness and ripeness.

Cut Side Up: Arrange cut side up for better caramelisation and attractive presentation.
