In a second bowl, combine 1 cup almond flour and 1 tablespoon cocoa powder and mix until everything is well combined.
1 cup almond flour, 1 tablespoon cocoa powder, ⅓ cup maple syrup
Now add ⅓ cup maple syrup and mix until dark coloured dough forms.
Scoop vanilla flavoured dough with 1/4 teaspoon, roll it into a ball and place it on a plate. Repeat the process with the remaining dough.
Now roll balls from dark coloured dough using the same 1/4 teaspoon and place them on a separate plate.
On a parchment/greaseproof paper lined baking tray, place one ball in the centre, arrange six balls around it, alternating vanilla and chocolate to form a flower shape.
Cover the arranged balls with a small piece of parchment paper and press gently with a measuring cup to flatten slightly and help the petals hold together.
Place the baking tray in the preheated oven and bake for 12-15 minutes or until cookies are set.
Allow cookies to cool on the tray before serving.
Serve two toned almond flour flower cookies for snack.
Notes
Baking time: Keep an eye on the cookies as they bake, as baking time depends on your oven settings and thickness of cookies.Oil: Grease kid's palms with oil before making small balls from dough to prevent it from sticking to their palms.Press gently: A gentle press is enough to slightly flatten petals and help fuse as they bake. Pressing too hard loses flower definition.Lined baking tray: Place dough balls directly on a lined baking tray and work on it rather than shaping on hand and transferring to keep the flower shape intact.Dough: Keep both doughs and balls in separate plate/bowls until the last step, as even a little mixing between these doughs will blur the colour contrast.Same size balls: Try rolling same size balls to get uniform petals.Crumblydough: If dough is too crumbly to hold the shape, add a splash of maple syrup to help it bind.** Nutritional information provided here is estimated and for guidance only.
